Granny's Spoon Rolls

 

1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast or 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

1/4 cup vegetable shortening

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 cup warm water

1 teaspoon salt

4 cups all-purpose or bread flour

 

   1. Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.

   2. Cream together margarine and sugar in a large bowl. Add egg and mix well. Add the yeast mixture and flour; stir until well mixed. Spoon into a greased muffin tin and bake at 350*F for 20 minutes.

 

Makes 12 rolls.
